There seems to be quite a bit of discontent towards Meghan Markle in Paris, ironically dubbed the “city of love.”
The Duchess of Sussex has been criticized for posting a video on Instagram while riding in a limousine. In the clip, she has her feet up near the tunnel in Paris where her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, tragically lost her life in 1997.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams expressed his bewilderment over the post on social media, labeling it “silly” and “insensitive beyond belief.”
He commented in an interview, saying, “I don’t quite get what she was thinking. Well, she probably wasn’t thinking at all; no advisor would suggest anything that odd.”
Many social media users have taken to criticizing the “Suits” star, especially noting that she was close to the Pon Dharma bridge, adjacent to the tunnel where the unfortunate accident occurred.
Some users went as far as to label Markle as “American Psycho,” suggesting that her actions seemed almost malevolent, especially given the location of the video.
Another commenter remarked it was “a new level of evil,” insisting she “certainly proved her mental illness” by sharing the clip.
However, not everyone is in agreement. A few social media users defended Markle, wondering if the positioning of her legs really had a malicious intent behind it. One response noted, “I usually raise my legs too, and it doesn’t mean I’m being harmful. Can’t we give her a break?”
Markle’s representatives haven’t responded to requests for comments yet.
Currently, she’s attending Paris Fashion Week and made headlines for appearing at the Balenciaga show, where she wore a flowing cape and a white long-sleeved tunic paired with black heels. While attending the show has drawn criticism due to the brand’s past controversies, her team stated she was there to support Pal Pierpaolo Piccioli, the creative director.
