Vikings Secure Win in London Thanks to Addison’s Late Touchdown
Jordan Addison took a memorable journey from being sidelined to scoring a crucial touchdown during Sunday’s game in London.
Initially, the Vikings wide receiver found himself benched in the first quarter for missing a walkthrough training session earlier in the week. But he redeemed himself by making a game-winning catch in the last minute of a 21-17 victory over the Browns at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Head coach Kevin O’Connell voiced his concerns post-game, stating, “Those kinds of things don’t align with our standards. I wanted him to understand the importance of accountability.”
Addison finished the match with five receptions for 41 yards, capped off by a 12-yard touchdown pass from Carson Wentz with just 25 seconds left on the clock.
O’Connell noted that Addison spoke to the team before the match in light of his earlier absence.
Wentz praised Addison, saying, “First off, he’s a stud. Everyone talks about [Justin Jefferson] and how incredible he is, but let’s not forget about Jordan—he’s been a standout since I saw him in practice these last few weeks.”
Jefferson mentioned he had a conversation with Addison regarding the missed walkthrough, emphasizing the need to provide more guidance. “I just need to keep him under my wing and make sure he’s focused,” he said.
This game marked the Vikings’ second consecutive overseas outing, as they suffered a loss against the Steelers in Dublin just the week before.
Filling in for the injured JJ McCarthy, Wentz completed 25 of 34 passes for 236 yards and one touchdown in the game.
The Vikings emerged victorious against a Browns team led by rookie quarterback Dilongabriel, who made his first NFL start and threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns on 19 completions out of 33 attempts.
