Titans Snag First Victory Against Cardinals After Major Errors
The Arizona Cardinals seemed well on their way to a third win in the 2025 NFL season. However, they let it slip away, leading to a surprising loss against the Tennessee Titans, who finally clinched their first victory of the year.
The Titans managed to defeat the Cardinals 22-21, thanks in part to a last-second field goal that ended the team’s four-game losing streak. It was a tough pill to swallow for Arizona, especially after they had a comfortable lead of 21-6 at halftime.
Things started off well for the Cardinals when Emmali Demercado appeared to secure a 72-yard touchdown run, which could have all but sealed the game for them. Yet, an unfortunate turn of events occurred: he dropped the ball just before crossing the goal line. Instead of extending their lead to 28-6, Arizona faced a touchback that handed the Titans the ball at the 20-yard line.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Titans quarterback Come Ward orchestrated an 80-yard drive that concluded with a one-yard touchdown run from Tony Pollard, narrowing the score to 21-12.
In another twist, there was a moment when Arizona seemed poised to intercept a pass in the red zone. Dadrion Taylor DeMerson had the ball but unfortunately lost control as he hit the ground. In a flurry of action, multiple Cardinals players attempted to recover, but the ball fortuitously bounced into the end zone, where Titan receiver Tyler Rockett dove in to score another touchdown.
Suddenly, the score stood at a precarious 21-19. Despite the mounting errors, the Cardinals still had a chance for redemption. After the Titans forced a punt, Ward took control and launched a drive that culminated in a 38-yard completion to Calvin Ridley, placing the Titans on the Cardinals’ 15-yard line. An 11-yard run by Pollard set up a short field goal attempt, which he successfully kicked for the game-winning points.
Ward ended the game with a total of 265 passing yards, recording one touchdown and one interception. Pollard shined with a 67-yard rushing performance on 14 carries, while Ridley led receiving with five catches for 131 yards.
Despite the disappointing outcome, Arizona’s Kyler Murray threw for 220 yards on 23 completions, with 98 of those yards going to Marvin Harrison Jr. on four receptions.
