President Trump took aim at Rev. Al Sharpton by sharing some old, flattering photos of him.
In a lengthy post on Truth Social late Sunday, Trump urged the Federal Communications Commission to revoke broadcast licenses from both NBC and ABC.
One of the photos, dating back to around 1988, featured a younger Sharpton dressed in a bold red shirt, complete with suspenders and a large gold pendant.
“I’ve known Al Sharpton for many years, and while it might not matter much, he was quite a fan of ‘Trump.’ He often wanted to attend what he called my ‘fake meetings,'” Trump remarked.
He went on to mention how Sharpton’s celebrity status took a hit following his involvement in the 1987 Tawana Brawley rape case.
“After that, he got to know fake news NBC’s Brian Roberts, who offered him one of the lowest-rated shows in TV history. Roberts seems scared to let him go, likely due to fears of not being ‘politically correct,'” Trump said, expressing some confusion about the network’s decisions.
“This is just one of the many reasons why the FCC should re-evaluate NBC’s license. They focus almost entirely on positive Democratic content. ABC isn’t much better—97% negative coverage for Republicans on similar stories!”
Sharpton’s show, “PoliticsNation,” is set to air on MSNBC.
Notably, Trump has suggested in the past that broadcast licenses should be revoked from several news networks.
