Nas and Dr. Dre at the opening of Simon Kim's Cote Las Vegas

Hip-hop legend NAS took a moment to enjoy some high-end Wagyu beef in Las Vegas on Friday night. He co-hosted the launch of Cote, a popular NYC steakhouse, at the Venetian Resort, a venue recently revamped with a $1.5 billion renovation.

Several notable personalities attended, including Dr. Dre, Anderson .Paak—who spun some tracks as the DJ—Steve Aoki, and other figures from the hip-hop world. I mean, just picture that crowd, right? It was a convergence of talent.

A standout menu item is the exclusive “blackjack” sandwich featuring A5 Wagyu. Makes you wonder how to get a taste of that, doesn’t it?

The grand opening was also a sentimental occasion for Simon Kim, the restaurant’s founder, as it marked two decades since his culinary journey began in Las Vegas.

Kim’s experience initially began at Kori, a family-run spot in Tribeca, before he ventured to Nevada to study hospitality. After gaining experience at MGM Grand and working with esteemed chefs, he opened Cote in 2017, which swiftly earned a Michelin star. The concept of blending Korean barbecue with American steakhouse aesthetics turned into a hit, gaining momentum with expansions to Singapore and now Vegas.

Kicking off the celebration at the Venetian, CEO Patrick Nichols noted that Cote promises a vibrant dining experience at the resort. His vision seems to be about elevating hospitality standards—sounds pretty exciting all around.

Among the ambiance were showgirls, roaming magicians, and various entertainment that echoed the classic Vegas vibe. You can almost visualize the scene. Guests enjoyed their meals, including personalized dishes, presenting a memorable and luxurious dining affair.

The Venetian’s transformation underlines its commitment to bringing fresh experiences to Las Vegas, something I think will only continue to evolve in the coming years.

As for the architectural vision, renowned figures contributed to the design, including David Rockwell and others who seem to have crafted an inviting and visually stunning space.
