Welcome to Week 6 Exemption Wire Watch!
October is here, and another weekend of NFL games has wrapped up. Every week seems to bring new wide receivers, emerging out of nowhere with standout performances. This creates a lot of chances for fantasy managers to bolster their receiving corps.
Let’s take a look at some players from the previous week. It might be a good idea to check the exemption wire before Week 6 starts. Just to clarify, we consider exemptions to be those rostered in 60% of Max’s league.
Goodbye for Week 6
Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings
Kendrick Bourne, WR, San Francisco 49ers (3.9%)
With injuries piling up, the 49ers had to turn to Bourne during their game against the Rams on Thursday. He finished with 10 catches for 142 yards, stepping up as San Francisco’s leading receiver while Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings were sidelined.
The 30-year-old veteran saw significant action, running 132 routes over the first five games, and this was the first time he had such a high target share. His future usage is a bit uncertain as injured players return, but at least fantasy managers have seen his potential to perform strongly.
Week 6 matchup
@Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 4:25pm
Ryan Flournoy, WR, Dallas Cowboys (0.7%)
One of the biggest surprises from Sunday came during the Cowboys’ 37-22 victory over the Jets, where Flournoy really stepped up. He caught six of nine targets for 114 yards and added 10 rushing yards. Prior to this game, he had only five catches for 35 yards all season, so this was a huge leap compared to his rookie season performance.
The Cowboys’ offense has been one of the most dynamic in the league recently. Flournoy is definitely a name to keep an eye on, especially since he’s available in many leagues.
Week 6 matchup
@Carolina Panthers, 1pm
Tret Tucker, WR, Las Vegas Raiders (54.7%)
The Raiders are struggling this season, but Tucker has emerged as a somewhat reliable playmaker. Just two weeks after a standout game where he scored three touchdowns, he had a significant impact despite the team’s rough 40-6 loss to the Colts.
With around 55% of the league’s rosters currently holding him, this might be one of the last opportunities to snag him from the exemption wire.
Week 6 matchup
vs. Tennessee Titans, 4:05pm
Xavier Hutchinson, WR, Houston Texans (0.6%)
The Texans delivered a stunning performance against the Ravens, winning 44-10, marking their second consecutive victory. A surprising standout was Hutchinson in his third year, who scored his first two career touchdown passes. Both touchdowns came in the red zone, a positive sign as the Texans find their offensive rhythm.
This week, with the team moving forward, there may be good chances to grab him on the waiver wire.
