Update on ANTIFA Funding Investigation

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt has provided an update on the Trump administration’s initiative to investigate potential financial backers of ANTIFA, the group often associated with violence in the United States.

Previously, President Donald Trump had instructed officials to leverage federal resources to identify those funding ANTIFA activities. “We will continue to uncover who is financially supporting these groups contributing to the turmoil against our government and nation,” Leavitt emphasized during a press briefing.

At the briefing, Leavitt mentioned that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has joined these efforts, highlighting the critical nature of financial support for such organizations. “This is very much on the administration’s radar,” she stated. “We haven’t mobilized the federal government for this purpose before, but we are now. The FBI is collaborating with the White House’s Homeland Security Task Force, and various intelligence agencies are addressing this as well.”

On a related note, Leavitt mentioned on Friday that the administration is contemplating the possibility of cutting federal funds to Portland, especially after a rise in violence around immigration and customs facilities. She reiterated the administration’s commitment to answering the public’s frequent inquiries regarding the funding sources for these organizations.

Texas Republican Representative Chip Roy has suggested that Congress should support the Trump administration by forming a select committee to investigate the funding behind these groups.

Critics from the liberal side argue that Trump’s actions may be an abuse of government authority aimed at targeting his political opponents.
