Earle-Sears launches 'Two Bullets' ad criticizing Spanberger in Virginia

Virginia’s Lieutenant Governor Criticizes Democratic Candidate

In a newly released advertisement, Virginia’s Lieutenant Governor Winsam Earl Sears has taken aim at gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger. This comes after Democratic leaders chose not to ask their party’s attorney general nominee to step down amid an emerging document scandal.

The ad, titled “Two Bullets,” features Earl Sears on screen approving the message. The narrator outlines the controversy surrounding Gerald “Jay” Jones, the attorney general candidate and former Norfolk delegate.

“Jay Jones says he wants to fire two bullets at his political opponent,” the ad states, cutting to a widely circulated clip of Spanberger saying, “Let’s stoke the anger.”

The narrator continues, referencing a headline that claims “Jones tells her opponents kids want to die,” and includes Spanberger’s subsequent comment, which implied frustration.

“Abigail Spanberger continues to support Jones,” the narrator asserts.

Meanwhile, Spanberger defended her campaign against accusations surrounding political advertisements criticizing Sears, even as Bernie expressed concerns about the implications of addressing the issue.

The advertisement also displays footage of Spanberger at a rally, where she emphasized the need for an attorney general who represents the people of Virginia.

“Abigail Spanberger: She’s standing by his side, not us,” the ad states.

Spanberger’s campaign has consistently refuted claims that she endorsed political violence, arguing that such rhetoric stemmed from comments made by his mother, liberal activist Eileen Davis, who advocated for more vocal political engagement.

A representative for Spanberger stated: “Abigail has condemned comments that downplay or rationalize any form of violence. We will not tolerate that.” She highlighted her track record of bipartisanship and unity, pledging to work across party lines as Virginia’s next governor.

On the same day, Spanberger also released her own ad targeting Earl Sears, criticizing her for backing former President Donald Trump’s tax policies and opposing abortion rights.
