NFL Week Six Update
With just five weeks remaining in the NFL season, we’re heading into week six. Only two teams are on bye this week, which adds to the challenge of replacing key players like Justin Jefferson, Nico Collins, and Jordan Addison. All three had impressive performances last week. While Emeka Egbuka and Jamar Chase recorded significant points, Chase’s output was especially unexpected.
The Bengals find themselves in a tough spot without Joe Burrow. His injury has negatively impacted Chase and Tee Higgins’ fantasy points—though sometimes garbage time can be rewarding. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for quarterback Jake Browning. He threw three touchdown passes during a significant loss, yet the team opted to bring in Joe Flacco as a backup. I have mixed feelings about Flacco’s potential impact; I doubt he can turn around the Bengals, but he might provide a lift to Chase and Higgins’ scoring.
Player Updates
Injuries are piling up, as usual. Pearsall hurt his knee in Week 4 against the Jaguars. The good news is it’s not severe, and he might play this week against the Falcons. He missed last week’s game but made a brief appearance on Thursday night. The mini-bye might give him a better chance of returning.
Jennings also sat out last week due to rib and ankle injuries, but the extended break should benefit him too. The 49ers might look much healthier offensively this week as they prepare to face the Buccaneers.
Lamb twisted his ankle back in Week 3 against the Bears and has missed the last two games. He hasn’t practiced yet, which raises doubts about his chances of returning in Week 6. But there’s always hope, as he could rejoin practice soon. Meanwhile, George Pickens will keep the WR1 spot while Lamb is sidelined, facing a rather weak Panthers defense this week.
Terry McLaurin, Commander
McLaurin hurt his quadriceps in Week 3 during a game against the Raiders but hasn’t been placed on IR, which is a good sign. He might be back this week to face the Bears in Monday Night Football, provided he gets on the practice field. Deebo Samuel has been performing well in his absence.
