Dolly Parton Reassures Fans About Her Health

Knoxville, Tennessee — Country music legend Dolly Parton shared a video on Wednesday, aiming to ease fans’ worries regarding her well-being.

On Tuesday, her sister, Frieda, had asked for prayers, mentioning that Dolly wasn’t feeling well. This post was shared widely, garnering about 21,000 shares. A week prior, Parton had to postpone her Las Vegas tour due to “health challenges.”

However, on Wednesday afternoon, Dolly took to social media with a message for her followers: “I’m not dead yet!”

“I know everyone thinks they’re sicker than me these days, but do I look sick to you?” she quipped in the video, which she recorded while filming a promotional piece for the Grand Ole Opry.

“I wanted to reassure those who genuinely care about me. As someone who values faith, I truly appreciate everyone’s prayers,” she added.

In the video lasting two minutes, Parton explained that she’d been dealing with “some issues” and hadn’t been caring for herself well, particularly following the passing of her husband. She mentioned that her doctor had recommended various treatments that necessitated rescheduling some appointments and remaining closer to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Nevertheless, she emphasized that her situation was “no big deal.”

“I want you to know that I’m not going to die,” she expressed emphatically. “I’m not ready to die yet. I don’t expect God to finish me; I’m not done yet. I care about you, and I love you, and I will continue to pray for me.”

While she didn’t disclose the specific medical issues she was facing, a representative had previously indicated that she was awaiting surgery related to kidney stones.

“It’s just a kidney stone and the procedure she needs to resolve it,” a rep stated to an outlet. “It seems her sister’s comments got a bit out of proportion.”

Dolly Parton, now 79, occasionally performs, but she has not toured since concluding her Pure & Simple Tour in 2016. Recently, she also missed announcing the latest attraction at Dollywood, which was attributed to her health problems.

“I found out I had a kidney stone, which led to complications and an infection, and my doctor advised against traveling immediately,” Parton explained in a previous video, expressing her disappointment at not being able to attend an event at Dollywood.

Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, passed away in March at the age of 82, marking nearly 60 years of marriage.
