Tribute to Arturo Gatti Jr. Following His Untimely Passing

Arturo Gatti Jr., the 17-year-old son of the renowned Canadian boxer Arturo Gatti, has sadly passed away.

A former bodyguard of Gatti shared the news on Instagram, painting a distressing picture that echoes the circumstances surrounding the late boxer’s own death. It’s a tragic parallel, as Gatti Sr.’s death was ruled a suicide.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share this… My thoughts are with Arturo Gatti Jr., found hanging in his apartment in Mexico yesterday, hauntingly similar to the way his father was discovered 16 years ago in Brazil. My deepest condolences extend to his mother, sisters, brothers, and daughter, Sofia,” was the message from Chuck Zito.

Mo Latif, reportedly one of Gatti Jr.’s coaches, also confirmed the news via his Instagram Story. “This is not a rumor or a joke,” he expressed in his heartfelt message. “Arturo is gone. I would appreciate it if you would stop reaching out to me right now.”

According to a report, it remains unclear if any foul play was involved.

Gatti Jr. had aspirations to follow in his father’s footsteps and take up boxing. His father, a champion in the International Boxing Federation and the World Boxing Council, was found dead in July 2009 in Brazil. At the time, he was just 37 years old.

Though his wife, Amanda Rodriguez Gatti, was briefly charged and detained in connection with his death, she was eventually released. Investigators had concluded that Gatti had taken his own life.

In 2013, Gatti was honored with induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
