Jack Eichel Strikes Big Contract Deal

Jack Eichel has just secured a substantial deal. The forward for the Golden Knights has inked an eight-year, $108 million contract extension to remain in Las Vegas, as reported on Wednesday.

He’s not alone in this wave of contract renewals; Eichel now joins fellow 2015 draft class stars such as Connor McDavid (Oilers), Kirill Kaprizov (Wild), and Kyle Connor (Jets), all of whom have recently finalized extensions with their teams before the season kicks off.

At 28 years old and a Boston College alum, Eichel was set to hit free agency after this season. This new deal makes him the highest-paid player in the history of the Golden Knights.

The team is set to open the season Wednesday night against the Kings at 10 p.m.

Since joining the Golden Knights from the Sabers in the 2021-22 season, Eichel, a three-time All-Star, has been a vital offensive player and played a pivotal role in their capturing the Stanley Cup in 2023.

In the last season, he participated in 77 games, netting 28 goals and achieving a personal best of 66 assists for a total of 94 points. Eichel will be part of the top line alongside recent free agent acquisition Mitch Marner, who joined from the Maple Leafs in a notable $96 million sign-and-trade.

Eichel has openly expressed his love for playing in Las Vegas and appreciation for the organization during the early days of training camp. “I obviously love this organization here in Las Vegas,” he stated. “The people involved in it, from the owners to all the training staff and everyone I work with daily. The community has been great to me. I love living here.”

Golden Knights’ general manager Kelly McCrimmon noted that finalizing a deal with Eichel was a top priority for the organization. “Jack is the priority,” he reiterated. “We have a lot of respect for the player and what he means to our organization. I think he also feels like the organization is very good to him. We’ll keep the dialogue going.”
