Four found dead in San Francisco home as police look into unusual deaths

Authorities reported that four individuals, including two children, were discovered deceased inside a $2 million home in San Francisco during an investigation into a “suspicious death.”

The tragic incident came to light just before 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday when police performed a welfare check at a residence on Monterey Street in the Westwood-Highlands area. The San Francisco Police Department shared this information.

The four individuals are believed to be family members who resided in the house and were pronounced dead on-site.

The family included two daughters, one estimated to be around 12 to 13 years old, as reported by local residents.

Belinda Hannert, a neighbor, expressed her unease: “There was no sound at all. I think the most unsettling part was the silence. We were aware it was a family of four, with two girls,” she noted. “They seemed like a typical family, living a typical life.”

Neighbors, in shock, described the family as reclusive but seemingly content, living about 11 miles from downtown San Francisco and conveniently close to the City College.

“We heard them more than we saw them. It was a normal family dynamic: kids playing in the yard, trying to round up the dog, enjoying summer barbecues—that’s all it was. Just like us,” she added.

“I’m at a loss for words. This is totally unexpected. We’re still trying to process it; it feels like a tragedy,” said Hannert.

Officials have characterized the incident as “suspicious,” leading the investigation to be handled by the San Francisco Police Department’s Homicide Unit.

While no suspects have been identified, authorities reassured that there is no immediate danger to the public, suggesting that this incident seems isolated.

Officer Robert Rueca acknowledged potential leads, stating, “It’s a possibility, but nothing has been confirmed yet regarding this case.”

Rueca labeled the crime scene as an “unusual event” for the neighborhood.

The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office continues its investigation into the cause of death but has not provided specific details about the circumstances.

The names and ages of the victims have not yet been disclosed.

The single-family residence, which sold for $1.35 million in 2014, is currently valued at around $2.1 million and features three bedrooms and one bathroom, built in 1924.
