Kimmel calls Greene the only sensible voice in the GOP: 'What is happening?'

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel recently referred to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) as the Republican Party’s “only voice of reason” after she broke ranks with her party to call for the release of the Epstein case files and expressed opposition to the expiration of health care benefits.

“In recent years, it’s been the Republican Party that has been vocal about wanting the Epstein file, and here’s one of their own who doesn’t care what her colleagues think,” Kimmel remarked on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

He showed a clip of Greene speaking to a journalist about her support for the victims of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“They can apply whatever pressure they want; I’m not going along with it,” Greene, a devoted Trump supporter, stated in the video.

Kimmel then returned to discussing the chaos in Washington, saying, “It’s somewhat astounding that Marjorie Taylor Greene is seen as the voice of reason for the Republicans.”

“Honestly, what’s happening? First, it’s health care, and now this? Did she have a visitation or something?” he joked.

After a brief hiatus, Kimmel pointed out Greene’s longstanding support for Trump, playing a clip where she reflected on being one of the few who stood by him when many in his party distanced themselves after the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

“I’ve always been a staunch Trump supporter. I was among the few who backed him after January 6th, campaigning for him across the nation and spending significant money from my campaign,” she said in the video. “I’ve also backed many excellent Republicans.”

“But I’m not a slave. So, I guess that’s one way to put it,” she added.

Kimmel responded, saying, “Well, maybe not the best way to phrase that. Try using ‘Doormat’ next time; it might fit better.”

Greene did not respond immediately to requests for a comment.

She has gained attention recently as one of just four House Republicans to back a petition aimed at forcing a vote to release the complete Epstein case file. This week, she also made headlines for her stance against the expiration of health care subsidies, which is a major point of contention in the ongoing government shutdown debate between Republicans and Democrats.

In a recent interview with NewsNation’s “The Hill,” Greene reiterated her bold stance, mentioning that she is facing more pressure related to her support for the Epstein case file petition than any other topic.

“That discharge petition has my signature, and surprisingly, the pressure has been intense. I can’t believe it. It doesn’t make sense to me,” Greene told host Blake Berman.

“It seems pretty clear-cut, especially considering the sexual assault of a girl at just 14 years old,” she remarked, referencing Epstein’s alleged offenses.
