Blue Jays tease Yankees following ALDS win at Yankee Stadium

Blue Jays Celebrate ALDS Victory Over Yankees

The Toronto Blue Jays secured their place in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) at Yankee Stadium, and they chose to make a statement with their celebration on Wednesday night.

After clinching the AL Division Series (ALDS) with a 5-2 victory in Game 4, the team was ready to pop some champagne. But first, Blue Jays manager John Schneider had a few thoughts to share with his players—taking a jab at the New York Yankees while doing so.

“Everyone in the bullpen game, Nathan Rooks, Myles Straw, all the moms. It depends on everyone every day. Start spreading the news,” Schneider said as the festivities kicked off amid the champagne spray.

This wasn’t just a light-hearted moment for the Blue Jays’ manager; it seemed like a pointed remark towards their AL East rivals, who had claimed the division title earlier in the season.

Meanwhile, as the Yankees celebrated in their own clubhouse, they were playing Frank Sinatra’s classic “New York, New York,” which they traditionally play after home wins.

In an interesting twist, during a postgame chat with Fox Sports, baseball legends David Ortiz and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. took the opportunity to poke fun at the Yankees, riffing on radio announcer John Sterling’s famous win call for the Bronx Bombers.

When Ortiz chimed in, Guerrero humorously stated, “Yeah, the Yankees lost,” leaving former Yankees players Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter in disbelief.

Though Yankees fans may not appreciate the Blue Jays’ celebration, it’s worth noting that the Blue Jays had the upper hand throughout the regular season. Many still believed New York would return to the ALCS to defend their 2024 pennant. However, the Blue Jays dominated the earlier games in the series, easily taking a 2-0 lead and scoring a total of 23 runs compared to the Yankees’ eight.

Overall, the Blue Jays managed to rack up an impressive 34 runs in four games, while the Yankees struggled to match that offensive output.

Now, the Blue Jays await their ALCS opponent, as the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers gear up for a deciding Game 5 on Friday night.
