Dame Prue Leith’s Entertaining Moment on The Great British Baking Show
This week, Dame Prue Leith surprised everyone by showcasing her playful side on the latest episode of The Great British Baking Show. Inside the tent, she humorously demonstrated what a beautifully carved tart looks like. This is just one of the many instances where Prue has taken her role as a judge to a whole new level, bringing a fun energy that some might argue Paul Hollywood hasn’t matched this season.
**Spoiler Alert: The Great British Baking Show “Pastry Week” is now streaming on Netflix**
This week was all about pastries, challenging the bakers to create a braided pastry with a delectable filling, a gala pie featuring piccalilli, and, lastly, a “visually stunning sculptural tart.”
The bakers had a pretty clear grasp of what a braided pastry should look like and how they might adjust their recipes. However, some confusion arose around the piccalilli component, which was kind of the point. Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding had some clever tactics to help the bakers grasp what was required for the Showstopper challenge.
After explaining the tasks, Noel addressed the seven bakers left in the competition: “If anyone needs a reminder of what a visually impressive sculpted tart looks like, Alison is here to demonstrate.” With a cheerful flair, Ms. Hammond posed in the tent, showcasing her sass.
Returning to his spot, Noel voiced a mild concern about the potential for his joke to come across as sexist, prompting him to pivot slightly. Alison echoed Noel’s intro, but with a comedic spin as she confidently stepped down the aisle like a fashion model.
Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, but Noel decided to raise the stakes. After the playful display, he inquired, “Who wants Prue? Prue is a bit of a rebel!”
Alison gleefully responded, “I do!” The crowd was clearly excited by this playful banter.
Dame Prue then made her grand entrance.
Alison warmly introduced her: “If anyone has forgotten what an aesthetically pleasing carved tart looks like, Dame Prue is here to remind you!” And with that, Prue entered the scene.
Rather than just strutting her stuff, Prue placed her hands on her hips and began to sway her hips, prancing forward and twerking with light-hearted flair. The bakers were thrilled. The crowd erupted in cheers.
Returning to the front of the tent, a delighted Prue was greeted with a joke from Noel about how Paul might be next. Mr. Hollywood merely shook his head, clearly less amused.
This isn’t Prue’s first bold moment this season. In a cold open sketch themed around Jurassic Park, she hilariously transformed into Richard Attenborough’s character, complete with a beard. Paul, by contrast, didn’t seem to engage as much with the antics.
Cheers to Dame Prue Leith for her sense of humor! It’s refreshing to see judges who can interact freely with both hosts and bakers. And are there any other judges out there who can twerk? Even better!
