Outlander: Blood Of My Blood Episode 10 Summary: "Something Borrowed" (Season Finale)

Season 1 Finale of “My Blood Blood”

The season finale has finally arrived! However, in a surprising twist, Ellen’s much-anticipated wedding in Scotland will involve two individuals no one saw coming.

To kick things off, we see a flashback to Claire’s second birthday, where she enjoys cake with her parents and Uncle Ram. Ram is optimistic about Claire’s future adventures, giving fans a sense of comfort knowing she’s well cared for, even as her parents navigate perilous times in the past.

Then, there’s the bride. But, wait—it’s not Ellen MacKenzie walking down the stunning Virgin Road. With a thick veil obscuring her features, the identity remains a mystery for now.

The day prior, Brian and Murtagh are getting back to basics after a close call with an assassination attempt. Brian is too caught up in his thoughts about why Ellen left him to focus on his own looming peril. Murtagh encourages him to cast aside doubts and trust his instincts. Determined, he vows to protect his wife from Gallowglass once again. They fight off the Irish mercenaries, but Murtagh takes an arrow to the leg. Meanwhile, Brian learns that it was Colum Mackenzie who hired Gallowglass and heads to Leoch solo, leaving his injured friend behind.

Back at Leoch, wedding preparations are in full swing. It’s here that Ellen meets Marcus McCrannock, who presents her with a wedding gift—one that also happens to be a gift for Jamie to give to Claire on their wedding day.

Dougal, in his typical fashion, celebrates his sister’s wedding by behaving poorly. His soon-to-be sister-in-law, Maura Grant, catches his eye as she rushes off to tend to an errand. She seems to have her own opinions about the wedding.

In a rather somber moment, the bride expresses remorse to her sisters for not consulting their father about her marriage plans. Jocasta, always a bit sarcastic, doesn’t hide her emotions. During Ellen’s hen party, Jocasta defends her against the skepticism of Maura Grant, who questions Ellen’s true feelings.

Not everyone is thrilled about the wedding. Julia and Lord Lovat share a disdain for the upcoming event. Unphased by Julia’s charms, Lovat summons her to his room, but she escapes his advances when Henry appears at Castle Leathers. To shield Davina from Lovat’s fury, Julia concocts a ruse to fake her captivity. With Henry’s help, she manages to escape with her child.

Meanwhile, Brian sneaks into Leoch and runs into Jocasta, who recognizes him. She presses him for answers about his disguise and intentions regarding Ellen. Moved by his plight—fearing for his life at Dougal’s hands—Jocasta agrees to help him communicate with Ellen. Brian confesses his undying love to Ellen, and she reciprocates. She suggests that if Colum breaks his promise to protect Brian, she would be free to abandon her commitment to Malcolm.

Jocasta, given the chance, confronts Colum, but he remains tight-lipped, leaving Ellen’s choices unmade.

Meanwhile, Julia and Henry are en route to Clay na Dun, reminiscing about a simpler time by the seaside. Julia excitedly reveals her pregnancy, bringing a touch of light amidst the chaos of their lives.

Back in Leoch, Ellen is absent and tempers are flaring. Malcolm rages about his new wife being a fugitive. Uncle Mac suggests that the Mackenzie family must marry again to avert disaster. Colum orders that Dougal be summoned for his assistance.

Finally, we see the bride walking down the aisle, and as her veil is lifted, it’s revealed to be Maura Grant, Malcolm’s sister.

In fulfillment of his promise to the Grant family, Colum hastily arranges a marriage between Dougal and Maura. While some fans might have anticipated this twist, both the guests and Dougal appear shocked. It seems Maura is eager for their wedding night, prompting Dougal to ponder whether he really knows how to please her.

While the festivities unfold, Ellen remains hidden as a maid, biding her time to escape with Brian. Malcolm, drowning his sorrows, crosses paths with Ellen and Brian on their way out. Enraged, he accuses them both—Ellen as a deceiver and Brian as treacherous. In a fit of rage, he attacks Brian, but Brian manages to defend himself, resulting in a fatal confrontation.

Ellen and Brian make a narrow escape on horseback, heading toward Murtagh’s location. Ellen declares she has no regrets about their choices.

Elsewhere, Simon learns Julia is missing, but Arch Bug is determined to help return them both to safety. He is on edge as he tracks them down.

Meanwhile, Ellen and Murtagh share a moment while Brian goes scouting. He gifts her a boar’s tusk bracelet, promising Murtagh will tell Claire about it one day. Ellen insists the gift is something just for them. Murtagh expresses his happiness for them, even while being injured.

After an intimate moment between Brian and Ellen, she recites a touching poem before they take a blood oath together. However, their peace is disrupted by the sight of a flaming cross symbolizing the call to join the Jacobite rebellion. Brian faces a crossroads: stay or leave Scotland forever. Ellen reassures him of her unwavering support, stating, “We are one.”

As for the other couple, they reach the stone but worry about their son William’s ability to time travel. Julia suggests one of them cross first with the baby, while the other stays back. Amidst growing tension, Henry insists they need to protect Julia from danger and the two share a heartfelt farewell.

In parting, Henry takes William, placing Julia’s hand on the stone, proclaiming that his heart will always belong to her.

Their fate remains uncertain, and the episode ends with a return to the 20th century, featuring a train journey to Scotland and a bittersweet goodbye to Claire.

And that wraps up Season 1 of “My Blood Blood.” Ellen and Brian face the daunting challenges of the Jacobite war, while Julia and Henry navigate the unpredictable waves of time travel ahead.
