Palisades Fire Incident Unfolds from Disturbing Uber Ride
A passenger who was in the car with the Uber driver involved in the Palisades Fire in Southern California has shared unsettling details about the ride. Reports indicate that Jonathan Rinderknecht, 29, started a small fire after dropping off a passenger during his vacation. This fire reignited on January 7 due to high winds, escalating into the much larger Palisades Fire.
Brennan White, who was picked up by Rinderknecht last New Year’s Eve, described him as an “angry guy.” She recounted, “He was a hell of a job,” noting that he expressed frustrations about not being able to locate a passenger and made negative comments about former President Trump.
White mentioned that Rinderknecht seemed to direct more of his anger towards himself, rather than the passengers.
Interestingly, White did not connect the dots regarding the Uber ride until she was contacted by a Los Angeles Police Department detective in February. The investigator sought information about her driver and even inquired about her clothing that night. White provided valuable details, including a ticket with the driver’s name and timestamp.
Reflecting on the incident, White said she didn’t think much of it until she later recognized Rinderknecht’s photo as the man arrested in connection with the fire. “We were probably his previous ride,” she added, recalling that they had been dropped off in the San Fernando Valley just before midnight.
White, who works as a bartender in Malibu, expressed concern about the devastation caused by the fire, noting that many friends lost their homes. “If I had known what he was up to, I could have done something to stop him,” she reflected, revealing that this incident weighs heavily on her conscience.
In response, Uber stated that they acted swiftly to remove Rinderknecht from their platform as soon as his involvement came to light, cooperating with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives during the investigation.
