What Bill Belichick is sharing with those around him amid North Carolina rumors

Bill Belichick and Michael Lombardi are staying put.

According to a report from Deanna Russini of The Athletic, despite ongoing turmoil within North Carolina’s football program, both coaches have stated they have “no plans to leave Chapel Hill.”

Belichick has expressed a fondness for coaching at the college level and feels that they are working towards something significant at UNC.

It seems Lombardi is “absolutely on the same page” with him.

This update follows a week where it appeared Belichick’s short college coaching career might be nearing its end.

Earlier, 247Sports highlighted “discussions about possible exit strategies” at the university, suggesting there were talks about possibly firing the famous coach.

In his fifth game at the helm, Belichick had reportedly “discussed buyout options” with the university’s leadership.

The rumors intensified to the point where Belichick and UNC’s Director of Athletics, Bubba Cunningham, felt the need to publicly support Belichick’s future.

Cunningham remarked, “Coach Belichick has the full support of the athletics department and the university.”

Belichick himself stated, “I am committed to UNC football and the program we are building there.”

After facing a wave of negative publicity, Belichick and his staff are apparently trying to “find the leaks” that have been disclosing internal matters.

The Tar Heels’ performance has been less than stellar; in five games under Belichick, they’ve secured only two victories, suffering defeats against TCU, UCF, and Clemson.

These losses have collectively resulted in a staggering score of 120-33.

There seems to be tension rooted in the presence of Belichick’s 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, within the program.

Hudson was observed on the sidelines again recently and was seen in a disagreement with ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips at one point.
