Garrett Wilson frustrated after disappointing first half

New York Jets standout wide receiver Garrett Wilson expressed his dissatisfaction with the team, making his feelings known to head coach Aaron Glenn at halftime during their game against the Denver Broncos.

The Jets’ final drive was, well, somewhat clumsy and frankly embarrassing. They attempted a fake punt to sustain the drive, but there wasn’t much risk taken on the field. That 10-play, 31-yard sequence concluded with Justin Fields throwing a short pass to Josh Reynolds, who unfortunately couldn’t make it to the line of scrimmage for the subsequent play.

The NFL Network captured a moment where Wilson animatedly spoke with Glenn before heading back to the locker room. In the first half, Wilson was targeted just twice, managing one catch for a mere 2 yards. At this point, Denver was leading 10-6 as both teams prepared for the second half.

Fields struggled significantly, completing only five passes for 17 yards, and the offense seemed sluggish overall. The Jets amassed a total of just 32 yards during the first half.

Entering this London game, Wilson was the Jets’ leading receiver with 33 catches for 382 yards and four touchdowns, which had already matched his entire rookie season total. He won Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2022, so it’s a bit surprising to see the team’s current struggles.

Since almost beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in their season opener, the Jets’ performance has been off. Their defense, too, hasn’t been able to make the necessary plays to help turn things around.

Interestingly, the Jets were desperately seeking their first win of the season. They were ranked 19th in scoring and 20th in receiving yards. On the defensive side, they stood 22nd in yards allowed and a concerning 31st in points allowed, carrying a goal differential of -45.
