Rams Kicker’s Missed Field Goal Sparks Social Media Buzz
This past Sunday featured quite an unexpected moment from Los Angeles Rams kicker Joshua Carty. During the game against the Baltimore Ravens, his field goal attempt from 26 yards veered wide to the right, resulting in what many have called one of the most memorable “doinks” of the season. Fans quickly took to social media to react, especially considering that, had he made it, the score would have leveled at 3-3 in the first quarter. Instead, it highlighted continuing challenges for the Rams’ special teams.
This wasn’t Carty’s first misstep of the season. Earlier, he had a winning field goal attempt blocked in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles. In that same match, defensive lineman Jordan Davis made headlines by returning a block for a touchdown. Carty also missed two field goals during that outing.
Last week, the second-year kicker, who played at Stanford, struggled again in a close loss to the San Francisco 49ers, where he missed a field goal and an extra point.
Reflecting on his past performance, Carty had initially found some success last season, making 29 out of 34 field goal attempts and having a solid track record with extra points. Currently, however, his form seems to have dipped, managing just 9 out of 12 field goals this season.
As the Rams headed into the match with a record of 3-2, Carty’s struggles have become a point of concern for the team moving forward. The ups and downs in sports can be just as unpredictable as they are entertaining, can’t they?
