Sean “Diddy” Combs Seeks Transfer to Fort Dix for Drug Abuse Program

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal representatives are advocating for his transfer to the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) at FCI Fort Dix, where he aims to serve his prison sentence. This comes after he was sentenced this month to 50 months for federal prostitution charges.

Joe Giudice, a former star from “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” who also served at the New Jersey facility, shared insights into what Combs might expect during his time. Giudice served at Fort Dix from 2016 to 2019 for charges including conspiracy and bankruptcy fraud.

His attorney, Tennie Geragos, submitted a request to Judge Arun Subramanian on October 6, conveying that the RDAP program would provide Combs with an opportunity to tackle substance abuse issues and enhance family visitation while focusing on rehabilitation.

Giudice reflected on the benefits of serving time at a low-security facility, suggesting that it’s a good environment for doing time. He noted that the RDAP is well-regarded among inmates and is one of the few programs with a residential setup within the Bureau of Prisons. This setting also means participants live in dedicated housing separate from the general population, allowing them to interact with others undergoing similar challenges. He noted that eligibility for the program requires screening to ensure all participants are legally and clinically qualified.

Currently, the program runs from six to twelve months and involves intensive treatment. If Combs successfully completes the full 12 months, it could result in a reduction of his sentence, potentially leading to an anticipated release in February 2027.

However, Leonard pointed out that entering the program isn’t automatic. There’s a waiting list, and it’s a competitive spot, largely due to the support and benefits it provides. Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of family visits, emphasizing how Combs’ children had plead for leniency during the sentencing hearing.

Giudice recounted that family gatherings were significant during his time in Fort Dix, which he found uplifting amidst the challenges of prison life. He also mentioned witnessing violent incidents and gang activities during his incarceration, painting a nuanced picture of life inside.

Leonard remarked on his visit to a satellite camp at Fort Dix, contrasting it with more restrictive facilities. He noted that inmates could move more freely, which stood out to him in terms of prison conditions. The environment seemed to provide a sense of normalcy, something that could be vital for someone like Combs.

FCI Fort Dix, situated on an Air Force base in southern New Jersey, houses over 4,100 male inmates, with additional accommodations for minimum-security levels. Its proximity to major cities like New York and Philadelphia may also make it appealing for Combs.

Ultimately, the decision regarding his transfer and the specifics of his incarceration will rest with the Bureau of Prisons.
