Travis Hunter’s Baptism Marks a New Chapter

Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter shared that his life took a significant turn after he was baptized just hours before the team’s 20-12 defeat against the Seahawks in Jacksonville.

The 22-year-old, playing as both a wide receiver and defensive back, was captured on video during his baptism at Celebration Church in Jacksonville, Florida, as noted by Kristin Love.

“I was running late to church because I couldn’t find my keys, and then I stumbled upon Travis Hunter being baptized!” she remarked, posting a clip of the moment.

“He invited me to be there for his baptism before today’s game.”

Hunter expressed that getting baptized had long been on his mind, indicating he was eager for this new phase in his life.

“It’s Sunday, after all—God’s day. I had this baptism in mind,” he mentioned, as reported by ESPN. “I’m striving to be a better man.”

“This means a lot. I’m working on becoming a better person, moving away from my past, and embracing a fresh start.”

The church is conveniently located about 23 miles from Jacksonville’s Everbank Stadium.

The former Colorado standout, alongside his wife Leanna Reaney, has been open about their faith.

The couple tied the knot in May 2025 and welcomed their first child, a son, just a month prior.

After his baptism, Hunter played a total of 61 offensive snaps, securing four receptions for 15 yards and contributing two tackles on defense.

The Jaguars faced challenges, notably with penalties and missed coverages, allowing seven sacks during Week 6. They are set to compete against the Rams in London for the NFL International Game this coming Sunday.
