Are Hamas and Palestine mentioned in the book of Revelation?

Reflections on Current Events and Prophecy

As challenges seem to escalate around the globe, it’s natural that many Christians are pondering whether we are indeed nearing the end times. The Book of Revelation has become a focal point for these discussions, with its prophecies—many tied to Israel and the broader Middle East—offering a somewhat hazy glimpse into what is believed to be the final days preceding Christ’s return.

A compelling idea has surfaced, suggesting that the unrest in the Middle East, particularly the events of October 7, may not just be political. Some propose that it symbolizes the ancient struggles depicted in the Bible, like those between the Israelites and the Philistines.

Dinesh D’Souza, a well-known conservative author and commentator, delves into this theory in his latest documentary, “Prophecy of the Dragon.” The film combines on-the-ground reports, interviews with figures like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and archaeological insights, proposing that the same malevolent forces that battled against God’s followers in scripture are still at work today, albeit in different guises.

During a recent episode of the Glenn Beck program, D’Souza elaborated on the Dragon Prophecy and stressed its importance for modern viewers.

“Revelation 12 features a dragon that symbolizes the devil, who wages war against a woman representing Israel, and she is pregnant, reflecting the Messiah,” D’Souza states.

It’s evident to him that, recognizing his ultimate failure, Satan opts to target humanity—God’s most valued creation—harming them where it counts the most. This concept traces back to Genesis, where the serpent tempts Adam and Eve, ushering sin and its resulting darkness into the world, necessitating Jesus’ sacrifice.

“The devil’s aim seems to be directed at both Jews and Christians,” D’Souza adds, “the Jews being the original chosen people.” He notes that the devil’s strategy involves expelling them from their historic lands and setting up a significant Islamic victory site above where Solomon’s Temple once stood.

Further, he argues that this animosity towards Jews extends to Christians, who are deemed “spiritual Israelites” in the Bible. “Thus, the devil says, ‘I loathe them too. I will harass and oppress Christians just as I did the Jews.'” This persecution resonates with contemporary increasing hostility against Christianity in the West.

While President Trump once brokered a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, numerous tensions persist. Even if negotiations yield results, the underlying spiritual truths of this long-standing conflict continue to endure.

D’Souza points out that “Hamas,” in Arabic, means strength, yet intriguingly, in Hebrew, it signifies violence and destruction. He remarks how the term is invoked throughout the Hebrew Bible to signify misconduct and brutality.

Interestingly, he notes a peculiar aspect of the Palestinian flag—its colors correlate with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as described in Revelation 6: white for conquest, red for war, black for famine, and green for death.

“There’s an abundance of connections,” D’Souza muses. “It may be prudent to step back and reflect on whether we truly grasp the situation before us in a broader, more profound context.”

Glenn Beck, after viewing “Prophecy of the Dragon,” remarked on its relevance, saying it’s thought-provoking, especially concerning our current circumstances.
