Kamala Harris does not mention Trump in ceasefire statement

Harris Acknowledges Trump’s Role in Hostage Release

Former Vice President Kamala Harris expressed her appreciation for President Trump and his administration in securing a deal that resulted in the release of Israeli hostages taken by Hamas. Interestingly, she referred to him simply as “the president,” not mentioning Trump by name.

“We are grateful and deeply encouraged that this ceasefire has brought long-awaited moments of joy and reunion,” Harris remarked. She noted the return of 20 Israeli hostages to their families and emphasized the relief beginning to reach the people of Gaza, who have endured significant hardships.

The conflict intensified after a severe terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which involved mass killings and kidnappings of civilians.

Clinton Voices Approval of Ceasefire Efforts

Harris further stated, “Through diplomacy and persistence, today marks an initial move toward a more hopeful future. I commend the contributions of the leaders and partners involved in making this agreement possible, including the president and his team.”

She acknowledged that while progress has been made, a lot remains to be done to achieve lasting peace and ensure the safety and dignity of all innocent lives. Her aim is to foster a future where Israelis and Palestinians can coexist peacefully.

It’s worth noting that Trump bested Harris in the presidential race last year, winning both the electoral and popular votes.

Fetterman Celebrates Hostage Release

Meanwhile, Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett criticized Trump on Monday, claiming it’s unjust to act as a “president of peace” while creating turmoil domestically. Conversely, Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman praised the ceasefire, attributing it to the president’s efforts.

Interestingly, Trump has hesitated to endorse a two-state solution following the recent peace deal in Gaza, suggesting that, well, “we’ll have to wait and see.”
