Week 6 of the NFL Season
Here we are, entering Week 6 of the NFL season. It’s hard to believe there are only 12 weeks left until the regular season wraps up. Feels like time is slipping away! Anyway, let’s dive into the current wide receiver stats. Surprisingly, the top performer in standard scoring isn’t Puka Nacua, Jackson Smith-Njigba, or even Amon-Ra St. Brown—it’s George Pickens from the Steelers. He seems to be stepping his game up significantly this year. Is he better than last season? Maybe not by a huge margin, but he’s definitely playing more aggressively now, thanks to a sort of pass-heavy offense. A move from the Steelers to the Cowboys would really shake things up, though. Sure, his stats might be a bit inflated due to CeeDee Lamb’s ankle issues and the Cowboys’ struggles on defense, but if you drafted Pickens, you’re feeling the pressure right now.
Looking at the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills, there’s a lot going on this week.
Then we’ve got Zai Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Khalil Shakir, and Keon Coleman making headlines.
Nacua has battled through various injuries, managing to play as a fantasy WR1 despite them. Unfortunately, during Week 6, he faced yet another ankle problem and ended up being more of a decoy, catching just two passes for 28 yards from three targets. It’s pretty telling when a player only has three targets. Let’s hope he can bounce back quickly for this weekend’s game in Jacksonville, especially with the team having a bye week coming up. Giving him a little more time might be a smart move.
Wilson hyperextended his knee in Week 6, and he’s expected to be sidelined for several weeks, according to Adam Schefter. Without Wilson, the Jets are really struggling, but he’s not exactly performing at his best either. If Mason Taylor, Breece Hall, and Justin Fields can keep the momentum rolling, they might be your only fantasy options against a shaky Panthers defense this week.
Pearsall hurt his knee against the Jaguars in Week 4, and while he thought he wouldn’t miss much action, he’s now missed two games. Jauan Jennings is back too but is dealing with a broken rib. Pearsall hasn’t practiced since his injury, but fingers crossed for a return for this week’s Sunday Night Football against the Falcons.
Lamb sprained his ankle in Week 3 against the Bears and has since missed Weeks 4 through 6. He hasn’t practiced yet, but there’s chatter he could be back for the game against the Commanders. Until then, George Pickens is stepping up as the WR1.
Quentin Johnston, Chargers
Johnston dealt with a hamstring issue and missed the latest game against the Dolphins. He is, however, participating in limited practice this week, so there’s a chance he could return for the game against the Colts.
Terry McLaurin, Commander
McLaurin has been nursing a quadriceps injury since Week 3 against the Raiders, but thankfully, he wasn’t placed on IR. He might have a chance to play this week, especially in a key matchup with the Cowboys. Keep an eye on the practice reports.
Egbuka hurt his hamstring in Week 6 and couldn’t re-enter the game. He’s likely to miss this week as well, although there’s no specific timeline yet. They’ll be examining the injury to determine its severity.
With Egbuka and Chris Godwin possibly out this week, the team desperately needs Evans back from his hamstring injury. He got hurt in Week 3, which was initially thought to sideline him for 3-4 weeks. Now entering Week 4, the head coach thinks he might practice ahead of Monday night’s game against the Lions.
Marvin Harrison Jr., Cardinals
Harrison Jr. sustained a concussion in Week 6 and has to clear protocol to play against the Packers in Week 7. In his absence, Zay Jones stepped in and had a solid showing against the Colts.
Ridley also picked up a hamstring injury in Week 6 and seems likely to be out for at least a week, maybe longer. Van Jefferson filled in admirably but may not carry much fantasy weight moving forward.
