Massie achieves highest fundraising total of his career after opposing Trump on important matters

Massie posts best fundraising number of career after defying Trump on key issues

Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky, has kept a pledge to ensure that any attempts to unseat President Trump will “backfire,” as campaign fundraising hits an unprecedented high.

Massie recently announced he has over $2 million available for his reelection bid, having raised nearly $768,000 in donations from July to September. This amount is reportedly the highest for him in a three-month period, according to paperwork submitted to the Federal Election Commission.

The Kentucky representative has often challenged the Trump administration and is seen as a target for criticism from those opposed to the White House.

He notably voted against the administration’s expansive summer spending bill, which would eliminate Medicaid funding for various states, and has urged the Justice Department to release details regarding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In light of rising politically motivated violence, Massie has also asked President Trump to ease his rhetoric about divisions within the party, particularly after the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

More recently, Massie diverged from party lines by voting against a temporary budget bill aimed at keeping the government funded.

In a recent post, President Trump criticized Massie, labeling him “the worst Republican in office” and claiming he frequently votes against party priorities. He expressed frustration, saying, “I’m looking for the right person to run against this guy, someone I can support and campaign for vigorously.”

Massie has taken Trump’s words as a driving force and is leveraging the national fundraising surge. “Well, they’ve spent $1.8 million on me so far in my district,” he mentioned in a speech, suggesting the attempts to undermine him may not be working. “I think this is going to be a test of whether the executive branch can dominate the legislative branch.”

He confidently asserted, “I’m going to win. Members of Congress will feel encouraged to follow their own instincts and the wishes of their constituents, rather than just sticking to the party line,” he stated during an NBC interview.
