Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent Promises to Track Down Those Funding Antifa's Domestic Terrorism

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has expressed intentions to target the financial backers of domestic terrorist groups like Antifa.

Bessent appears to be quite aware of the ongoing narratives pushed by some Democrats and media figures who downplay the existence of Antifa. It’s evident that Antifa is real, well-funded, and organized. After the Trump administration designated Antifa as a domestic terrorist entity, Bessent is now eager to take action.

He acknowledged the right to peaceful protests but emphasized that there’s a troubling rise in anti-Semitism and bigotry since a significant event two years ago. Nonprofits have been involved in funding some of these organizations, which has now changed. He stated, “We will follow the money.” Many groups seem interconnected, sharing resources like the same equipment used to blind police during riots. This level of organization surely incurs substantial costs. There’s a question as to how much international support exists, as well as the contributions from U.S. nonprofits—an aspect that’s critically important now, reminiscent of the post-9/11 response.

Recently, President Trump convened a meeting at the White House to discuss Antifa with long-time observers of the group. One participant, Seamus Bruner from the Government Accountability Institute, mentioned a web of NGOs involved in funding, extending beyond well-known sources like the Soros network to others like the Arabella and Tides Funding Networks, indicating there’s even foreign involvement.

This administration seems unbothered by media tactics that once deterred Republican leaders from confronting groups like Antifa. If it’s established that Antifa functions as a terrorist organization, is well-coordinated, and has solid financial backing, then the administration will not be misled or influenced by narratives against them.

Bessent, however, didn’t address the considerable amounts of money needed to keep members of these networks out on bail.

Democrats and some media outlets appear to support Antifa’s actions in the streets, likening their utility to how Hitler utilized his brownshirts for intimidation and terror, highlighting a concerning aspect of left-wing strategy.

This reflects a significant failure of leftist ideologies, which seem to resort to gaslighting and violence as their primary tactics.
