Stellantis to Invest $13 Billion in U.S. Manufacturing

Stellantis, the automotive giant, has revealed plans for a significant investment of $13 billion in the United States, following President Donald Trump’s tariff announcement. This investment is expected to result in the creation of more than 5,000 jobs in the automotive sector.

According to reports, the 25% tariff on foreign-made cars has been beneficial for the Rust Belt, leading Stellantis to announce that they will bring production back from overseas. The company plans to allocate over $600 million to reopen the Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois, which had been closed previously.

Executives at Stellantis expressed that this $13 billion investment represents the largest commitment in the U.S. market in the company’s century-long history. They highlighted plans to resume manufacturing the Jeep Compass and Jeep Cherokee domestically, both of which are currently produced abroad.

In a recent press release, Stellantis stated that this investment will not only support the launch of five new vehicles across various brands but also involve producing a brand-new four-cylinder engine. The company emphasized that it will add over 5,000 jobs across facilities in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.

AUBURN HILLS, MI – Stellantis aims to significantly expand its U.S. presence over the next four years with this hefty investment, which will ramp up annual vehicle production by 50%. The launch of 19 product updates is planned through 2029, demonstrating a robust commitment to domestic manufacturing.

CEO Antonio Filosa commented on the importance of this investment, stating that it’s critical for growth and enhancing Stellantis’ manufacturing capabilities in the U.S. He also reflected on how success in the U.S. market is essential for the company’s global strength.
