In Kevin Federline’s memoir, shocking claims have emerged that Britney Spears used cocaine while breastfeeding their two sons.
The ex-husband of the pop icon asserts in the song “You Thought You Knew” that this event took place at the release party for her 2006 album, “Playing with Fire,” as noted by a media outlet.
Britney, now 43, had stated she was heading home with their sons, Sean Preston and Jaden, aged 20 and 19, respectively, which left Federline taken aback to see her and her stepfather at the party.
Federline describes his feelings upon seeing Jamie Spears, stating that Jamie’s expression conveyed disapproval and worry, suggesting that Britney’s presence at the party was troubling.
When Britney entered, Federline mentions she and a friend were doing cocaine openly, wearing extravagant wigs – one of which was bright blue on her head. It apparently felt surreal to him.
Additionally, Federline indicates that he approached Britney during the party while engaged in drug use himself.
He refrains from naming the woman involved but refers to her as “an actress on the brink of a breakthrough role.” He adds that Britney’s brother and agent were also in the same room.
At the time, their sons were just over a year old, and that night, Federline reportedly asked Britney to consider stopping breastfeeding, which he saw as critical. This conversation is said to have lead to heightened tension between the couple.
Federline claimed he urged her to use formula instead, emphasizing it was important for her to avoid breastfeeding during that time. However, Britney reacted by throwing a drink at him, which he felt marked a turning point in their relationship.
Following these events, Britney filed for divorce days after Federline’s lawyer requested she cease breastfeeding their children, which contributed to their marriage unraveling.
Reflecting on the chaos of that evening, Federline recalled feeling overwhelmed, as the situation seemed to accelerate too quickly for him to process.
The marriage lasted just two years before Britney filed for divorce in November 2006, with the process finally concluding by July 2007.
Britney’s representatives have yet to comment specifically on the cocaine allegations but criticized Federline’s memoir as sensational. She has declared the book contains “white lies” and emphasized that the publicity around it seems aimed at benefiting others at her expense.
In a statement regarding the memoir, Britney expressed her concern about those profiting from her story, particularly following the termination of child support with Federline.
In her upcoming album, set to release on October 21, she hints at feeling exhausted by the ordeal with her ex-husband.
