Jennifer Lopez Reflects on Iconic Fashion Moments

Not every red carpet appearance stands the test of time, especially when you’re as iconic as Jennifer Lopez.

The 56-year-old singer and actress stepped into the role of fashion critic on “Watch What Happens Live,” where she revisited eight of her standout looks from 1995 to 2007.

In what they call the “Versace or Hibachi” segment—well, “Versace” is supposed to mean protective, and “Hibachi,” well, that’s a different vibe altogether—Lopez gave a mostly positive review to her previous ensembles.

Her Valentino dress from the 1998 Golden Globes? She instantly dubbed it “Versace,” though she humorously corrected herself. The audience loved her candidness.

Lopez expressed her affection for her 2006 VMAs look, with a mini dress and coordinating turban. “I love it, I’m sorry. I love it,” she said, clearly relishing the memory.

However, she didn’t hold back on some of her choices. Looking back at her 2000 VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards outfit, she cringed, admitting, “The belt was a mess.” There was a sense of vulnerability in how she reflected on her past styles.

When it came to her contributions to the fashion world, many outfits drew her admiration. The glamorous beaded dress from Badgley Mischka for the 1997 Oscars also won her approval, alongside another vintage number from the 2007 Met Gala.

Lopez revealed mixed emotions about her look from the 1995 “Money Train” premiere, acknowledging the beauty of the Richard Tyler dress but feeling it didn’t quite fit her personal style.

Cohen suggested she could rock a turban today, and she agreed, laughing at the notion as if it seemed possible.

Then there was the baby blue romper from the 2000 fashion awards—she liked the hair but still had to declare, “The belt was a mess. It’s going on the brazier.”

Her most critical moment came when she reflected on a maxi skirt and crop top look from 1996, immediately branding it as “Hibachi!!” with a laugh. It showcased her playful yet honest take on her own fashion history.

This trip down memory lane aligns with her upcoming residency, “Up All Night: Live in Las Vegas,” set to start December 30. Currently, she’s also busy promoting her new film, “Kiss of the Spider Woman.”

When her 2001 VMAs ensemble—a leopard-print mini dress with thigh-high boots—was shown, the audience erupted in cheers. Lopez couldn’t help but smile, admitting that sometimes you just have to give the people what they want.
