Trade Rumors Surrounding Alvin Kamara Amid Saints’ Struggles
The New Orleans Saints have had a tough start to the NFL season, currently holding a disappointing 1-5 record. Amid this backdrop, rumors regarding potential trades for key players, particularly running back Alvin Kamara, are gaining traction.
Kamara has made his feelings quite clear—he wants to stay in New Orleans. “I’ve expressed this openly. I like it here. I’ve said it many times; I think everyone is aware of that,” he remarked.
Reports surfaced recently suggesting that Saints general manager Mickey Loomis reached out to Kamara after other teams showed interest in acquiring him. Interestingly, Loomis inquired if Kamara had any preferences regarding a potential new destination.
Kamara seemed to take this news in stride, humorously recounting a conversation with Loomis that made them feel like they were in a “Spider-Man meme”—wondering who would speak first. “It’s all part of the business,” Kamara reflected.
He is well aware of the harsh realities of the NFL, but he possesses a unique leverage: retirement. “If it were up to me, I would tell any player, if you’re being traded, just let me know. Honestly, I’d just go enjoy a piña colada,” he joked.
Turning 30 next July, Kamara reflects on past trade rumors too. Last summer, his primary focus was securing a new contract. The Saints drafted him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft and extended his contract during the 2024 season, keeping him signed through 2026. “I want to finish my career here,” he stated.
Kamara is not alone in the trade talk; fellow Saints receiver Chris Olave has also attracted attention as the trade deadline approaches.
This season, Kamara has rushed for 314 yards on 83 attempts, scoring once, and has caught 22 passes for 122 yards. Fans and analysts alike are keen to see how the trade rumors unfold as the season progresses.
