Jeffries criticizes Leavitt: 'Disturbing,' 'unmanageable'

Jeffries Critiques Levitt Amid Political Violence Concerns

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries from New York expressed his disapproval of White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt on Friday, addressing rising political violence and recent issues linked to the Republican Party.

“We’re witnessing a rise in political violence and hatred across America, with swastikas showing up in the offices of Republican Congress members,” Jeffries told reporters at the Capitol. “Young Republicans are making some of the most anti-Semitic and racist remarks imaginable.”

He shifted his focus to President Trump’s press secretary after remarking that Republicans were “ripping the sheets off.”

“And Caroline Leavitt is concerning as well. She’s out of control,” Jeffries stated. “I’m not sure if she’s just crazy, misinformed, a total liar, or some combination of all those. But the statement from the official White House spokesperson about the Democratic Party being filled with terrorists, violent criminals, and illegal immigrants? It just doesn’t make any sense.”

These remarks were a direct response to Levitt’s comments. On Thursday, during an appearance on Fox News, she labeled Democratic lawmakers as “Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals,” referencing the failure of New York City mayoral candidate Zoran Mamdani to advocate for the disarmament of Hamas.

Levitt expressed in her book that “The Democratic Party does not serve the interests of the American people.” Her reaction to Jeffries’ comments was shared via social media.

Before targeting Levitt, Jeffries also addressed two recent controversies. One involved revelations that leaders and members of the Young Republican National Federation allegedly exchanged racist and xenophobic messages in a group chat, as reported by Politico.

Another controversy highlighted an American flag that featured a swastika, which was observed in Rep. Dave Taylor’s (R-Ohio) office. Taylor mentioned that an investigation was launched following the discovery of “a vile and highly inappropriate symbol in close proximity to an employee in my office.”
