Denise Richards’ Estranged Husband Arraigned on Abuse Charges

LOS ANGELES – Aaron Phypers, the estranged husband of Denise Richards, faced arraignment in court on Friday.

According to Richards’ attorney, Phypers was arrested on allegations of spousal abuse.

Inside the courtroom, Phypers was handcuffed and appeared to resist security officers as he was taken into custody.

After being escorted out by sheriff’s officers, they returned to retrieve Phypers’ cellphone.

Denise Richards reportedly expressed feeling “embarrassed” recently, as well as noting that her daughter could not go to church following the leak of nude photos.

Initially, Richards had filed a temporary restraining order against Phypers back in July, claiming he engaged in both physical and emotional abuse during their marriage. She mentioned an incident involving violence that coincided with Phypers filing for divorce.

Richards testified in court last week about Phypers allegedly trying to ruin her reputation, which included leaking nude images of her.

She shared her struggles in court, emphasizing, “It’s been very difficult for my daughters, especially with the naked photos. As a mother, I’m honestly embarrassed.” She added that her daughter had trouble attending church.

In July, she alleged that Phypers stole her computer and shared personal information, including nude photos, with various media outlets. A judge subsequently ordered him to return the stolen laptop within 48 hours.

On July 29, a judge barred Phypers from distributing any personal or confidential information as well as any explicit photos accessed from her devices.

Richards described troubling incidents of physical abuse in a complaint filed, detailing that Phypers violently assaulted her in multiple ways and threatened her life. She stated, “He held me down on my back to the point where I had to beg him to get off me.” Richards has accused him of causing at least three concussions.

Phypers denied the claims in a statement, asserting that they were false and intended to damage his reputation.

During the court proceedings, Phypers claimed that the photos he obtained were from her cellphone, which he didn’t view as private since he believed Richards was being unfaithful.

When questioned about whether sharing the personal material was an invasion of privacy, Phypers maintained that it was not, arguing that she had shared it with someone else.

Still, Richards stood her ground, sharing that the leaked photos were a source of distress for her and her family.

Phypers filed for divorce on July 7, citing irreconcilable differences. He also requested spousal support, claiming Richards restricted his access to their joint funds and business resources. He mentioned facing eviction and proposed he should receive half of Richards’ substantial income from her OnlyFans account.

There is ongoing tension as Richards continues to recount her experiences in court and seek protection from further alleged abuse.
