Tragic Plane Crash in Michigan
Recent audio revealed the distressing moments leading up to a plane crash outside Lansing, Michigan. A twin-engine jet that departed from Kellogg Field at Battle Creek Executive Airport went down around 5 p.m. local time, resulting in the death of all three individuals aboard.
The audio, shared by TMZ, captures the pilot’s frantic communication with air traffic control. The pilot can be heard shouting, “Stall, recovery! Stall, recovery!” as he wrestled to keep control of the aircraft. Unfortunately, the situation escalated, and the air traffic controller’s inquiry about the pilot’s altitude revealed the gravity of the situation when they realized they were no longer receiving a response.
In the aftermath, air traffic controllers alerted nearby aircraft to be on the lookout for black smoke rising from the crash site. Videos and images posted online depicted the plane descending, followed by plumes of black smoke from the wreckage.
According to Phil Kroll, Kellogg Field’s Aviation Director, the plane had recently landed for maintenance, although specific details about the work done were not disclosed. Kroll mentioned that the aircraft was in the midst of test flights when the incident occurred, stating, “They were just testing some systems and that’s when they ran into a problem.”
The jet was maintained by Duncan Aviation, which confirmed that the crew consisted of two customer pilots and a maintenance worker, none of whom were their employees. Duncan Aviation’s President, Mike Minchow, expressed the company’s focus on providing support to the families and friends of those involved in the crash.
The cause of the tragic incident remains under investigation by Bath County police in collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration.
