Brandy angers fans by suddenly leaving the stage during 'Boy Is Mine' performance

Brandy sparked outrage among fans on Saturday by abruptly leaving the stage during her concert in Chicago, part of the “The Boy Is Mine” tour with Monica.

In a clip from the event, Brandy was in the middle of her 1994 hit “Baby” at the United Center when she told the audience, “Hold on, I have to get…” before exiting the stage. Later, she appeared to engage with the sound staff backstage.

One witness speculated that the 46-year-old singer was dissatisfied with the sound quality and approached the staff to address it.

About half an hour later, Monica took the stage to continue the performance, but the crowd unfortunately missed out on hearing Brandy and Monica’s joint 1998 song, “The Boy Is Mine.”

When it became clear that Brandy wouldn’t be returning, many fans took to social media to express their frustration.

One critic stated, “Look, I don’t care why she left. I noticed technical issues early on and just ignored them. But someone should have quickly announced something to the audience; that’s just basic professionalism. It’s disrespectful to those who paid for the show.”

Another fan voiced their disappointment, saying, “Thousands paid for the show. Why not communicate with the audience? Maybe just sing a cappella or something?”

Eventually, as fans reacted online, Brandy stated that after weeks of rehearsals, she experienced dehydration and felt faint.

Some fans defended her, mentioning that if she left the stage without returning, something serious might have been going on. One supporter expressed concern for her well-being, suggesting, “Brandy wouldn’t just leave for no reason; I hope she’s okay.”

In her statement, Brandy mentioned her struggle with health issues during the show but made efforts to give her best performance. She thanked Monica for her support during that time and mentioned plans to return to the stage for a show in Indianapolis that Sunday night.

Brandy expressed gratitude for the understanding and patience shown by her fans and assured them that she was taking the necessary precautions for her health.

The duo’s tour started on Thursday in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is set to end in Jacksonville, Florida, by December 14.

A representative for Brandy was not available for comment.
