Chaos Erupts at Anti-ICE Protest in Los Angeles
A protest against ICE in Los Angeles escalated into disorder on Saturday as law enforcement prevented activists from accessing the federal building’s driveway.
The demonstrators, frustrated at their inability to confront federal agents directly, vented their frustrations on the local police. In a notable moment captured on video, one protester waved an upside-down American flag in front of a police SUV. The police then maneuvered to drive around the crowd. At that point, some protesters briefly stepped into the vehicle’s path, only to retreat and fall to the ground, seemingly injured.
The incident was recorded by independent journalist Anthony Cabassa during a TikTok livestream. While Cabassa’s initial video showed the event unfolding, other clips circulating later depicted the aftermath rather than the incident itself.
In a response to a protester’s claim of being “run over,” Cabassa remarked, “I saw him immediately return to the protest unharmed and continue protesting into the night.” His footage also showed protestors assisting the supposedly injured individual into a car, expressing a desire to be taken to a hospital. However, there’s no confirmation that he actually received medical treatment.
“That young man who claimed to have been run over was seen being loaded into a car bound for the hospital, yet he returned to the protest shortly after, unscathed, even after being reminded the protest was illegal,” Cabassa told Blaze News.
As the night progressed, the Los Angeles Police Department dispatched mounted patrols to disperse the crowd outside the federal building.
Interestingly, video footage made the rounds revealing that the protester in question had previously been involved in protests in Portland, Oregon. Identified as Joseph Sanchez, he had been arrested by federal agents outside an ICE facility earlier this month. When apprehended, he reportedly appeared visibly distressed and had a notable confrontation with agents, asking, “Don’t touch me, you son of a bitch. Who do you think you are?”
