Bible Sales Increase Following the Assassination of Charlie Kirk

Recent data indicates a notable rise in Bible sales following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, on September 10th.

Sales of Bibles increased by 36% in September compared to the same month in 2024, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal, which referenced figures from Circana BookScan.

Prior to September, the monthly sales of Christian scriptures averaged around 1.5 million copies in 2025. However, in the wake of Kirk’s public assassination at Utah Valley University, sales surged to 2.4 million copies.

Kirk, a significant voice in conservative circles and a prominent leader of a grassroots youth organization, was also known for his deep Christian faith. At just 31 years old and a father of two, he openly expressed his beliefs both on his podcast and at college campuses, even visiting churches nationwide to promote TPUSA Faith.

He often stated that his conservative standpoint was rooted in biblical teachings and hoped to be “remembered for his courage in his faith.” Many have labeled him a Christian martyr since he was killed while discussing his faith in Jesus.

In the aftermath of Kirk’s death, numerous churches and conservative groups reported signs of a Christian revival. Church attendance has risen, and there are reports of mass baptisms and conversions occurring at universities across the nation.

According to HarperCollins Christian Publishers, there has been an uptick in interest in the Bible among individuals aged 18 to 34.

Mark Schoenwald, president and CEO of HarperCollins Christian Publishing, remarked that Kirk’s death “was a wake-up call for a lot of people.” He added, “They started thinking about what they believed and why they believed it.”

Brenna Connor, an analyst at Circana BookScan, noted that during challenging times, many gravitate towards faith.

“September brought a wave of violence, geopolitical tensions, and economic uncertainty, following a trend where more people seek faith for comfort in crises,” Connor explained.

Kirk’s wife, Erica, addressed the revival at his memorial service in Arizona on September 21, urging people to attend church and pursue a relationship with Jesus Christ.

“Last week, we saw individuals open their Bibles for the first time in a decade. We witnessed people praying for the first time since childhood. Some attended church services for the first time in their lives,” she shared.

On what would have been Kirk’s 32nd birthday, President Donald Trump awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously on October 14.
