iPhone 17 Pro Sparks Interest Despite Controversial Color

Consumers are giving the iPhone 17 Pro a try at an Apple Store in Shanghai, China, as of October 13, 2025.

Despite some criticism regarding its fluorescent orange hue, Apple’s “Cosmic Orange” device has intrigued both fans and investors alike. The latest lineup, which includes the standard iPhone 17, more advanced Pro, and slimmer Air versions — each available in colors beyond just orange — is reportedly outpacing prior models in sales across the U.S. and China. Notably, the iPhone Air quickly sold out in China shortly after its launch.

On the stock market, Apple’s shares jumped nearly 4%, reaching a record high by the end of the day. This is promising for CEO Tim Cook and investors, especially since Apple was lagging behind some other major players. This rise gives Apple a year-to-date increase of approximately 5%, unlike Nvidia’s impressive 36% and Meta’s 25% gains.

However, another member of the so-called Magnificent 7 had a rough Monday. Amazon’s cloud service, Amazon Web Services, faced an outage affecting major sites, including Reddit and Snapchat. Even with this setback, Amazon stock still managed a modest gain of around 1.6%.

Overall, U.S. markets saw an upward trend, with all major indexes ending positively on Monday. Looking ahead, investors are keen to keep an eye on trade dynamics with China and upcoming earnings reports from companies like Netflix, Tesla, and Intel.

And finally…

In another significant development, U.S. President Donald Trump had a tense discussion with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House recently. They talked about the potential provision of long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.

Unfortunately for Zelensky, he left the meeting without any substantial agreements. At one point, Trump seemed to imply that Ukraine should accept unfavorable terms from Russia to end the conflict, including relinquishing control of the eastern Donbas region, which has been the center of ongoing hostilities.
