Carissa Thompson Remains Resilient on Air Despite Illness

Amazon Prime Video host Carissa Thompson pushed through an illness during last week’s “Thursday Night Football” matchup between the Bengals and Steelers.

On a recent episode of her podcast, “Calm Down,” Fox Sports veteran Erin Andrews commended Thompson for her determination to stay on set even after vomiting. This spoke volumes about her resilience.

“I dreamed of having this job, and even after 20 years, I still feel incredibly fortunate. No matter how tired I get or what obstacles arise, I never take this for granted,” Thompson expressed.

“Even if you’re feeling under the weather on game day, it’s like having a Michael Jordan moment,” Andrews remarked, referencing the NBA star’s legendary performance despite food poisoning during the 1997 Finals.

Continuing, Andrews enthused, “You looked fantastic up there at the desk, and that leather jacket? Wow! You mentioned feeling really ill, and I joked that you’d look great even if you were placed on set to be buried!”

Thompson elaborated on her passion for her roles at Amazon and Fox. She shared, “I truly love this job. I want to keep it, and I hope no one else takes it from me. The excitement I feel on Thursday nights and Sundays? Nothing can diminish that, even unexpected events during a live broadcast. They’d have to drag me off before I’d step away from this.”

Thompson and Andrews will both be featured in the upcoming 2025 Super Bowl broadcast in New Orleans after recently receiving contract extensions from Fox ahead of the NFL season. However, specifics of the new deals haven’t been disclosed.

Thompson joined Fox in 2006, while Andrews came on board in 2012, previously working at ESPN. Additionally, Thompson has been part of Amazon since they began airing “Thursday Night Football” in 2022.

This Thursday, the Vikings will face off against the Chargers in Los Angeles.
