Jackson Dart Draws Attention in NFL
It seems like Giants rookie Jackson Dart is quickly making waves in the league.
Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio expressed strong admiration for the Giants’ new leader before their Week 8 clash in Philadelphia on Sunday.
Fangio, who is typically quite reserved, didn’t hold back when discussing Dart, stating that the team that passed on him made a significant error.
“One lesson learned, any team that needs a quarterback to get around them is going to regret it. He’s obviously very athletic and an elite scrambler,” Fangio told reporters this Tuesday. “I think their coaches did a great job with him. They built their offense around him and he’s really effective, especially from mid-range to deep passes. And he’s a solid player.”
Having witnessed Dart’s breakout performance up close, Fangio spoke highly of the 22-year-old QB, who threw for 195 yards and a touchdown, leading the Giants to a surprising 34-17 victory over the reigning Super Bowl champions in just his third NFL start.
Along with standout rookie halfback Kam Scattebo, who was the 25th overall pick, Dart breathed new energy into a franchise that had been searching for direction for years.
The Giants have gone 2-2 since Ole Miss took over for veteran QB Russell Wilson in Week 4. Dart has managed to capture attention despite facing some tough setbacks.
Recently, the Giants faced a tough loss blowing an 18-point lead in the last five minutes against the Denver Broncos, resulting in a 33-32 defeat. However, amidst this disappointment, Dart’s performance stood out. He completed 15 of 33 passes for a career-best 283 yards and threw three touchdowns, including a remarkable game-winning rushing score with less than a minute remaining.
“You have to give him credit. He’s way better than we thought,” said Denver linebacker Nick Bonitto during an appearance on “Up & Adams” with Kay Adams. “His feel for the game, ability to operate in the pocket, and make plays on the run were really impressive.”
The Giants, now at 2-4, are eager to replicate their earlier success against the Eagles, who are currently at 5-2, as they head into this Sunday’s game with Dart at the helm once again.
