Clemson’s Bryant Wesco Jr. Faces Recovery After Injury
Bryant Wesco Jr. has emerged as a key player for the Clemson Tigers this season, leading the team with 537 receiving yards and six touchdowns through just six games in 2025.
Unfortunately, his impressive season took a sudden turn during last Saturday’s matchup against SMU. While attempting to return a punt, Wesco sustained an injury after a tackle sent him tumbling. He appeared to hit his head and neck, which, as one might guess, raised serious concerns.
On Monday, head coach Dabo Swinney described the situation as “very serious.” Although Wesco was able to walk to the sideline on his own after the incident, he did not re-enter the game and was subsequently taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Fortunately, Swinney confirmed later that Wesco had been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home. The young athlete is taking time to rest, which seems to be the prudent choice.
In light of the injury, Swinney shared, “It was a very, very scary injury, but the doctors did a great job.” He added, with what seems to be cautious optimism, that Wesco is expected to make a full recovery. It’s both unsettling and reassuring to hear that there’s hope following such a scary incident.
Wesco himself expressed gratitude for the support he has received during this tough time. On his Instagram, he expressed heartfelt thanks to those sending prayers and support, saying it truly means the world to him.
If we look back, one of the highlights of Wesco’s season was undoubtedly the game against Troy, where he shone with 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns in a 27-16 victory.
