Psaki Faces Backlash Over Remarks on Usha Vance
Jen Psaki, the former White House press secretary, has sparked controversy with her comments regarding Usha Vance, the wife of the vice president. During a podcast appearance on “I’ve Had It,” Psaki made some jabs at the vice president, suggesting his wife might need rescuing from their marriage.
She referred to J.D. Vance as a “little Manchurian candidate,” expressing a belief that he has ambitions for the presidency. “I often wonder what his wife thinks—are you alright? Blink four times! Come here and we’ll save you!” she remarked, eliciting agreement from one of the podcast hosts.
Psaki didn’t hold back, stating, “He’ll do whatever it takes to achieve his goals… I’m actually more worried about him than Trump, in a way. He’s young, ambitious, and can adapt to whatever his audience wants.” It’s hard to ignore the blend of doubt and concern that colored her words.
Meanwhile, Stephen Chan, the White House communications director, shot back on social media. He criticized Psaki, suggesting that her comments reflect her own issues. Chan called her an “idiot” who relies on falsehoods to cover a lack of talent.
Psaki’s past has also been riddled with mockery, particularly for her frequent use of the phrase “circle back” during press briefings, which many perceived as a way to dodge tough questions while working for the Biden administration.
In the wake of Psaki’s remarks, several voices from the right have condemned her, particularly for her comments about Vance’s marriage. Further discussions on the podcast included assertions that Vance lacks the “gift” needed to lead the Trump movement independently.
