Crockett Contemplates Senate Run Amid Controversy
Jasmine Crockett, a Democratic congresswoman representing Texas, is “strongly” mulling over a potential Senate bid after her first term in the House.
During her appearance on SiriusXM’s “The Lurie Daniel Favors Show,” she hinted that attempts to unseat her have led her to believe in a sort of “karma” that could work in her favor, suggesting it might help her achieve higher office and counteract her adversaries.
“The question is whether we believe we have enough dynamism to expand our electorate,” she remarked.
Crockett expressed confidence, noting frequent polls that indicate her potential success in the Texas Senate primary. She stated, “Every other day, a poll is released that makes it clear that I will win the Texas Senate primary.” She added, “If you want to take away my 766,000 seats, I feel like there must be some kind of karma for me to take your 30 million seats.” She emphasized the importance of winning the popular vote as they explore ways to broaden support.
In Texas, Republicans are overseeing a redistricting effort with the goal of shifting congressional seats from Democratic to Republican control.
“I think the key to winning in Texas is not just focusing on the current electorate, but on expanding it,” she stated. She plans to investigate which demographics might normally abstain from voting but could be engaged.
In conclusion, Crockett expressed that if she manages to expand her district, she would give serious thought to running for the Senate.
Mr. Crockett’s sharp criticisms of former President Donald Trump have certainly made him a well-known figure among left-leaning constituents, although this has also placed a target on his back from Republican critics.
Reflecting on her feelings regarding Trump, she declared, “This isn’t America! This is a nightmare! Somebody slap me so I can wake up!”
At 44 years old, she triumphed over a Libertarian candidate in 2024 and is currently serving in her second term.
