Stephen A. Smith Apologizes to Rep. Jasmine Crockett

Radio host Stephen A. Smith posted a video on Wednesday, offering an apology to Texas Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett. This comes after she previously criticized what she sees as performative politics.

Before airing his show, he released a clip titled “Apology to Jasmine Crockett,” where he discussed his past criticisms regarding Crockett’s actions. In his video, Smith acknowledged that some of Crockett’s remarks have been “misunderstood and misinterpreted” by others. He felt the need to defend her after encountering what he called “disturbing” comments about himself from President Donald Trump.

“I have no problem apologizing to my sister,” Smith expressed. He wanted to clarify that he didn’t harbor negative feelings toward Crockett, just as he doesn’t have those feelings towards figures like Kamala Harris or Michelle Obama. “I’m just trying to figure out who I am and what I’m doing on this show,” he added. If he has offended anyone, he is willing to apologize.

Despite his earlier comments, Smith insists he did not mean to be misogynistic or disrespectful. He understands that his words might raise eyebrows, especially when juxtaposed with Trump’s rhetoric.

Smith continued, stating, “I can look Jasmine Crockett in the face and say, ‘I’m sorry for the inconvenience I caused you, because she’s accomplished and smart, a real challenger in this political climate on Capitol Hill.’” He reflected on Trump’s attacks and realized they overshadow any inquiries into Crockett.

Moreover, he conveyed that he doesn’t want to be part of Trump’s negative campaigns against Black women, indicating his desire for Crockett to do well politically.

He expressed that he respects her work and encouraged her to pursue a run for the U.S. Senate. Earlier this month, Smith had criticized her for appearing more focused on provocative statements than on serving her constituents. “It seems like her day job is just ranting about Trump,” he remarked.

Fox News Digital attempted to reach out to Crockett’s office for a response.
