Cheryl Hines calls RFK Jr.'s sexting controversy 'chaos' and gossip

Cheryl Hines, the actress and Health Secretary, discussed how she defended her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., during the sexting controversy involving New York Magazine author Olivia Nuzzi.

“You really have to think about where the information is coming from,” Hines noted during an appearance on the Katie Miller Podcast, criticizing Nuzzi, who suffered professional and personal consequences due to the scandal.

“And it all comes down to having a conversation with Bobby,” she remarked, referring to her husband of 11 years, based on excerpts reported by Politico Playbook.

The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star mentioned that last year’s incident, which Nuzzi clarified was only digital with no physical interactions, was something she anticipated given her husband’s presidential campaign.

“Bobby was running for president, which meant dealing with a whirlwind of headlines, rumors, and chaos for 18 months,” she reflected.

“That’s when I thought, ‘Alright, get ready for even more confusion.’ And, well, there was quite a bit,” Hines added.

She expressed skepticism about Nuzzi’s motivations for revisiting the matter in an upcoming memoir set to release by year-end.

“I don’t know these people or their intentions,” Hines commented on Nuzzi, who now works at Vanity Fair.

A source had previously told the Post that Hines experienced shock and distress regarding the rumored affair, but ultimately “believed Bobby’s denials unconditionally and strongly.”

President Kennedy also minimized the affair, stating through a spokesperson that he had met Nuzzi just once for an interview, which spiraled into a negative story.

In the meantime, Hines is promoting Kennedy’s memoir, “Unscripted,” set to come out on November 11th.
