"Canada Deceived and Was Exposed" – Trump Halts Trade Talks with Canada

Trump Stops Trade Talks with Canada

President Donald Trump has ended trade negotiations with Canada, citing a controversial advertisement that allegedly misrepresented Ronald Reagan’s views on tariffs.

Trump claimed that the Ronald Reagan Foundation revealed that Canada used a deceptive ad featuring Reagan that criticized tariffs, which reportedly cost $75 million to produce. He suggested that this ad was an attempt to influence important court decisions in the United States.

In Trump’s own words, “Canada cheated and got caught!” He added that the ad falsely portrayed Reagan’s stance, insisting that the former president actually supported tariffs for national security and economic reasons.

According to the Ronald Reagan Foundation, the ad was a significant misrepresentation of a radio address Reagan gave in 1987. The Foundation is now exploring legal options over the matter.

Furthermore, Trump accused Canada of unfairly manipulating tariffs, claiming that they have imposed tariffs as high as 400% on American farmers. He expressed gratitude to the Reagan Foundation for bringing this issue to light, emphasizing that other countries can no longer exploit the U.S.

While the Reagan Foundation’s statement did not directly address the ad’s misleading aspects, it recommended that people watch the unedited version of Reagan’s speech available on their YouTube channel.

In this ongoing trade dispute, Canada is facing criticism, marking another chapter in the complex relationship between the two nations.
