U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Discusses Trump’s Peace Agenda

In an interview with Breitbart News, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Walz referred to President Donald Trump as a “president of peace.” This was one of his first significant interviews since the Senate confirmed his position.

Walz shared insights during a lengthy video interview at the United Nations General Assembly, reflecting on a recent gathering where Trump and other leaders addressed the assembly. Notably, a technical glitch during Trump’s speech, when the teleprompter malfunctioned, allowed him to speak more freely. Walz commented that this unscripted moment showcased Trump’s genuine beliefs and commitment to his policies, unlike other leaders who might have faltered under similar circumstances.

He stated, “People ask me all the time about my agenda as an ambassador. It’s straightforward: it’s President Trump’s peace agenda. He utilizes his distinct personality and the relationships he’s built—even with leaders who typically distrust one another—to promote peace.” Walz emphasized that Trump’s approach in this chaotic moment was commendable, as he proceeded confidently with his message.

Moreover, Walz pointed out that Trump’s remarks at the U.N. aimed to refocus the organization on its foundational purpose—preventing wars and maintaining peace—rather than getting sidetracked by contemporary issues like climate change and social agendas.

Walz highlighted the critical question posed during both Trump’s speech and his own Senate testimony: what is the real purpose of the U.N.? He reiterated the need to strip away distractions and return to the fundamental mission of preventing conflict and promoting stability globally.

Much of the discussion centered on how reform is needed at the U.N. Walz, a former congressman from Florida, explained that he wanted to ensure that taxpayer dollars are effectively used. He acknowledged the skepticism many Americans have about the U.N. and stressed that if this institution could function effectively, it could prove invaluable. “We’re currently spending about a quarter of the costs for the U.N.,” he explained. “Yet, that money seems misallocated towards less effective projects.” He argued for a stronger emphasis on peace-oriented initiatives rather than being caught up in what he called “woke projects.”

Finally, Walz underscored the importance of having a forum where global leaders can communicate and negotiate peacefully. He expressed strong support for Trump’s strategy to refocus U.N. efforts on achieving peace instead of getting entangled in divisive issues. Walz hinted that additional details regarding operational changes at the U.N., stemming from U.S. influence, would be revealed in due course.
