Coca-Cola’s Diet Cherry Coke Makes a Comeback

A long-loved flavor from Coca-Cola is making a return, and while some fans are celebrating, others are hoping another classic soda gets a revival, too. Reports indicate that Diet Cherry Coke will be back on shelves permanently by early 2026 after a limited-time return last summer, packaged in retro-style cans and bottles at specific retailers.

Though Coca-Cola hasn’t officially announced this yet, company representatives allegedly confirmed the news at the recent National Association of Convenience Stores trade show in Chicago. Fox News Digital has reached out for an official statement.

The drink will soon be available in contemporary 20-ounce bottles and 12-ounce cans at major grocery stores.

First introduced in 1986, Diet Cherry Coke was discontinued in 2020, leading to mixed emotions among supporters.

Social media has been buzzing with reactions to the announcement. Snackolator, a popular snack review account, shared the news on Instagram, emphasizing NACS’ confirmation.

One commenter reflected nostalgic feelings, saying, “Yes, SSSS.” Another simply stated, “My favorite Diet Coke.” There were comments from fans thrilled about the permanent comeback, with one describing the summer’s limited release as a “teasing.”

However, opinions are varied. Some influencers who sampled the drink this week had different takes on the flavor. Wellness influencer Alexa Field shared on TikTok that it seemed fluffier than Lime, and noted its pleasant taste, mentioning it felt less sweet compared to typical Diet Cokes, even though she liked it.

However, not everyone agreed. Shelley Westwood, a motherhood and wellness content creator, expressed disappointment, saying it wasn’t as sweet as she had hoped and suggested a need for more cherry flavor. Others echoed similar sentiments, with some describing the taste as bland.

Comments varied widely, with one noting that the only hint of cherry was the stem, while another simply stated the drink “tasted really bland.” A few fans even reminisced about the old Cherry Coke Zero, expressing a desire for its return and wishing for more flavor options, like a vanilla version.

This range of reactions highlights the mixed feelings people have about soda flavors changing over time. As Coca-Cola brings back Diet Cherry Coke, one can’t help but wonder what other classic flavors might be next on the revival list.

Earlier this month, Coca-Cola mentioned that Diet Coke Lime will be available across the country until the end of the year, while supplies last, but they declined to comment on plans for Diet Cherry Coke.
