Trump verifies that the secondary examination included an MRI and cognitive assessment

Trump Discusses Recent Health Tests

On Monday, President Trump shared with reporters that he had an MRI and cognitive evaluations during a “secondary” medical checkup at Walter Reed Hospital earlier this year.

While he didn’t go into detail about why the MRI was conducted, he mentioned the full results had already been released, stating that the scan was “perfect.”

“I had an MRI scan and it was perfect,” Trump remarked to reporters aboard Air Force One while traveling to Japan.

He added, “No one has ever given you a report like the one I’ve given you. If I didn’t think it was good, I would let you know negatively as well. I’m not going to run away. I’m going to do something. But the doctors have put out some of the best reports of our time, some of the best reports I’ve ever seen.”

Additionally, Trump revealed that he underwent cognitive tests after Representatives Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) implied they had lower IQs and suggested they take similar assessments.

Regarding Ocasio-Cortez, Trump stated, “I’m going to give her an IQ test. I’m going to have her pass the exam that she decided to take when she was at Walter Reed. I took it, and it was very difficult. In a way, I think it’s really an aptitude test.”

He elaborated, saying, “The first few questions are easy: tigers, elephants, giraffes. When you get to five, six, ten, twenty, twenty-five, they can’t answer any questions.”

These comments came after Trump had a “semi-annual physical” exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center earlier this month. His doctor, Sean Barbavera, indicated that the president would “continue” with good overall health. Barbavera also noted that Trump underwent “advanced imaging tests, laboratory tests, and preventive health assessments” during his visit.

In July, Barbavera disclosed that the president had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a benign and common condition often seen in individuals over 70 years old.

Additionally, recent photos of Trump showed small bruises on the backs of his hands, which were consistent with mild soft tissue irritation resulting from frequent handshakes and aspirin use—part of a standard cardiovascular prevention routine. This is a well-known benign side effect of aspirin therapy.
